In the fall 2003 I found - by a coinsidence -, the book of Ulla Paaske "Strømpenisser" about making elfs of nylon stockings.

I was far more difficult to make these pixies than I had imagined. I simply could not make them look sweet. Mostly the looked ugly and if I was lucky, they looked funny!  At that point I had spend a lot of money - it is not a cheap hobby- and a lot of time on these pixies, but of some reason I could not let go of this hobby. It was great fun!

I participated in a Summercourse with Ulla Paaske in the summer of 2004. That was the right thing to do. Since then I have been on these summercourses in 2005, 2006 and 2007. I have learned a lot at these courses and Ulla Paaske is a very good inspiration for me. Now I work with the elfs with great self-confidence and the hole process making the elfs goes must faster.

I use a lot of time to make my elfs look gentle and kindly. At the same time I belive it is very important that the elf looks natural in the way the lay, sit or stand. Many thinks that the elfs are fragile. They are not!  They can be bend and twisted so they can lay, sit or stand as you wish. The only thing fragile on the elfs is, the face and the hands because they are made of nylon stocking. Yet you can twist and bend the head so the elf can look up and down.

The hole process making a elf in nylons is fun. I always have a certain expectation when I make the face and the expression on an elfs face. For who is this small personality I have created? The result is always a surprise.
